
An article published by the Greek Patients’ Association (GPA), a partner in the EU4MEDTECH project, was recently featured in EURACTIV as part of the wider European discussion on the future of medical technology regulation. The article also includes expert insights from Prof. Marušić, as the coordinator of the EU4MEDTECH project.
The article focuses on growing concerns around the implementation of the Medical Devices Regulation (MDR), particularly delays in certification procedures, unequal patient access to innovative medical technologies, and the need for a more efficient and evidence-based regulatory system across Europe. It was emphasized that the debate should not be framed as “safety versus access”, but rather as a shared effort to ensure both high safety standards and timely access to innovation for patients.
